Thanks for this year!

Trans Scania 2018 is over, and it was another amazing weekend. We would like to thank all runners, supporters, friends and family for making this event such a friendly experience. Ultra runners always seem to be such humble and helpful people!

You can see the results of the race on the results page. They have also been submitted to ITRA (for UTMB qualification) and DUV. Now we will gather our thoughts around this years race and think about any improvements and changes we could make for next year. If you have feedback, please let us know.

Next year is the 10 year anniversary of Trans Scania, and a lot of previous participants are eager to come and run. We’ll post here, on our Facebook page, and on Twitter when we’ve set a date for the registration to open. We have a feeling the race will fill up pretty quickly …

Trans Scania 2018 is almost here

Trans Scania 2018 is right around the corner now, and it looks like the participants will have some luck with the weather as temperatures will drop over the weekend. Right now it looks like we might actually get some rain as well, which at least is much better than scorching heat.

The race begins at 8:00 tomorrow (Friday) from Långa bryggan in Bjärred. You can see a map of the course and follow the runners live once the race begins here: https://transscania.legendstracking.com

Fire ban, water locations

This summer has been the hottest and driest ever measured in Sweden. With this in mind, there are two things the organizers would like to point out:

  • There’s a strict ban on making any kind of fire, including using barbecue grills and other types of outdoor stoves with fire. There’s a very high risk of forest fires, so it’s critical to respect this.
  • We’ve visited the most well known water locations throughout the course and made sure they work. We’ve gathered the information on this page. The page contains photos and coordinates to the taps, as well as a waypoint file with the locations. Stay hydrated out there!

Summer update

Last Sunday Magnus took a dip in the ocean from the Långa Bryggan Jetty where Trans Scania starts. Next week we will start reviewing some of the eastern parts of the route. The race has been fully booked (even slightly over booked) for quite some time, but at the moment the waiting list is empty. We hope you are well and that you look forward to the race as much as we do!

All previous and registered participants have accepted our terms and conditions for the race, but as the new GDPR regulations are put in place on Friday, it’s a good time to once again point to our Terms and conditions. If you have any questions about how we handle your personal data, don’t hesitate to contact us.

This years preparation have started and we will change a few things, hopefully to the better:

  • Almost all unnecessary papers will be avoided and the content distributed digitally instead. This means that if you want a starting-route-map or an end-route-map, you’ll have to print them yourself.
  • We will change our supplier for the GPS trackers, which means that the trackers will be of a slightly better and more modern cut. We hope that this will improve the overall experience for audience and safety for the race.

Race report Trans Scania 2017

Another Trans Scania has come to an end, and we’re wrapping up the final details before shifting our focus to Trans Scania 2018. The results have now been submitted to DUV and ITRA, so soon everything will be officially registered everywhere.

2017 was a year of many records for Trans Scania. The most obvious one is the new record time set by Martin Scharp, 31:36:57, hugely impressive. Many runners believe it’s possible to finish the race in under thirty hours, but it’s not going to be easy. The record has been improved three years in a row now, but it will be a real challenge to do the same next year.

At the opposite end of the scale, Peter Larsson beat the old record for longest race, running for almost twice as long as Martin Scharp, 59:01:28. Running for a longer time is not necessarily easier, running through two nights without sleep is really tough.

We also had fewer people than ever quitting the race, only two runners of 16, the highest number of finishers yet, 14, and therefore also the highest percentage of finishers, 87,5%. Henrik Kockum finished Trans Scania for the fifth consecutive year, which is another exceptional record. As long as he keeps coming back, that record will be hard to beat!

All numbers and records aside, both runners and supporters seemed to have enjoyed the race, though it’s never easy and fun all the way. We’ll soon open the registration for Trans Scania 2018, which will take place on August 10-12. We know a lot of very experienced runners are keen on taking on Trans Scania, so we expect a pretty spectacular race next year as well.

Trans Scania 2017 is over

The race is over, and we’d like to thank all runners, supporters, and the lovely people along the track for another fantastic Trans Scania. We get a lot of compliments for the race, but we mostly set the scene. It’s you who fill it with color, life, and adventure!

A more detailed race report will follow in the coming days. We have entered and verified the results, which are now official. They will be submitted to ITRA/UTMB and DUV shortly.

Again, thank you all for a fantastic weekend! We’re looking forward to seeing you again next year!

Race ongoing

Start 2017

The race has begun, and the participants are making their way across Skåne. Here are a few useful links:

  • You can follow the runners on our Live map, positions are approximate, and update roughly every three minutes.
  • A complete list of the runners can be found on the Participants page.
  • Preliminary results will appear on the Results page as they come in. We record finishes and DNF (did not finish) only, no splits.

The finish is at Hotel Lundia in Lund, you’re more than welcome to come by and see the runners finish!

UTMB qualification

We’ve now received confirmation that Trans Scania 2017 is a qualifying race for UTMB. Like previous years, Trans Scania finishers receive 6 qualification points (4 on the old scale), which is the maximum number of points from a single race.

You can still register, but the race is now full, and new applications will be put in a waiting list.

UTMB 2017
